Biography

Dr. Sangeeta Murugkar leads the Carleton Biophotonics Research Group at Carleton University. Prior to joining the faculty at Carleton University, Dr. Murugkar researched Quantum Nonlinear Optics and Biophotonics at the University of Ottawa. She is currently developing a portable optical probe that will use coherent Raman spectroscopy to directly detect ovarian cancer. Sangeeta has a PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Post-doctoral experience in Engineering Physics at McMaster University. Her undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Bombay (Mumbai), India was followed by a MSc degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur.
