Dr. Heather Logan is a professor in the Theoretical Particle Physics Group at Carleton University. She researches theoretical aspects of Higgs physics, which addresses the question of the origin of mass. Dr. Logan’s most recent work includes possible extensions of the Standard Model with additional Higgs particles, and the properties of the Higgs boson in extended Higgs sectors. She focuses on the properties of charged Higgs bosons, strategies for distinguishing different models, and the possible connections of these models to dark matter.
Dr. Logan currently works with CERN in particle physics, specifically the LHC (Large Hadron Collider), to find a window not only open up on the origin of mass, but also on the dark matter in the universe and maybe the origin of ordinary matter as well.
